His brother, Mateo, is still a soccer fanatic and is on the U9 Arlington travel team. There are some videos of him on here.
Yeah, it was great and the guys were awesome, so nice. My younger son in the video there had cancer, and since both boys loved soccer, we did a cold call to U.S. Soccer Federation to see if we could meet the players before the game in Tampa vs. Ecuador. This was March ’07 – they got us on the field at practice the day before. It was a great experience, for the boys. My younger son, Mason, passed away in October ’07.
Omg, this is so effing cute. They’re awesome for doing that. Kasey was especially funny about it.
This is the epitome of what GOOD athletes do. I do not need to say more about what bad influences athletes can have on young kids (MLB Steriod use etc) but this is truly touching that two MASSIVE players for the US team would take a few minutes after (?) practice to have a kickabout with the youngins.
I bet they’ll love soccer for life and we can all rest a bit easier knowing the class and character of our national team players.
