DONOVAN UNSURE ON LOAN

The LA Galaxy striker Landon Donovan has said that it is highly unlikely that he will be joining Everton on a loan deal in January like in the previous seasons. The US international striker has had a lot of success during his two loan spells with Everton in the past. Hence, there has been a lot of expectations that he would once again be back to the club in the coming January transfer window as well. However, he has all but ruled out of such a loan deal by saying that he does not have the same enthusiasm for the sport as he did a few years ago.

Meanwhile, it has been a number of years since he had more than two weeks of rest. Hence, he will be taking the time off when the regular season comes to a close this season. Landon Donovan has not had the best of European career during his early stage, but that has all changed with the two loan spells with Everton. David Moyes will be more disappointed than anyone else because the arrival of Landon Donovan would have provided the team with the third dimension. Everton have made a good start to the new season.

“The chances of me playing again this off-season are very slim. I’ve had, not since this January but last January [2011], a total of two weeks off. My soccer enthusiasm is not as high as it was two years ago. I’m kind of ready for a break when this [MLS] season is over. It’s possible. That’s why I’m really focused on doing my best this year and finishing up the year and then reevaluating. It could very well be,” said Landon Donovan in a recent interview. LA Galaxy are currently third in the Western Conference table.
