DONOVAN WILL FEATURE

Landon Donovan is expected to be part of the first team when LA Galaxy take on Real Salt Lake in the league match on Saturday. Ahead of this match, Real Salt Lake manager Jason Kreis has said that his team will pay a lot of price if they decided to shift their entire attention only on Landon Donovan because he thinks that LA Galaxy have other strong players in the squad as well. Kreis will be coming into the match as manager of the top team in the Western Conference. Real Salt Lake sit top of the table with a significant five point advantage over second placed Vancouver Whitecaps.

Kreis has said that Donovan has not been playing as a wide midfielder in recent matches because he has been utilised as a second forward by manager Bruce Arena. This is something that his team needs to be well aware before the start of the encounter. Kreis is of the opinion that Donovan playing in a central position is a lot more easier to deal with because it is easier for him to be spotted by the opposition. After going on sabbatical, the US international recently returned to first team action. He has been in great form so far, which is looking like will help him get back into the national team.

“He’s just somebody you’ve got to be aware of at all times, depending on where he’s playing in their tactical setup. He’s been playing more as a second forward than as a wide midfielder. That makes him, I think, a little bit easier for us to pick up actually and know where he is at all times because he’ll tend to stay in more central positions,” said Kreis. “He’s always been Landon, you know? It was good to see it on the American side, but bad to see it when we have to face him,” said RSL goalkeeper Nick Rimando.
